We often get asked if we sell plus size corsets — the answer is yes!
We make exceptionally well fitting corsets for every and all body types. Our “Custom Fit” option is available for every corset we sell. Just submit your measurements through our Measurements Form after your purchase, and we will make your corset fit to you.
In the beginning days of French Meadows, we only offered custom fit corsets. That means we had no standard sizes like XS-XXL as we do now. The addition of these “standard sizes” is fairly recent, because we wanted to offer a less expensive option for the most common sizes. That being said, very few people actually end up going with the standard sizes, because as we all know, one size never really fits all. Even if we offered more sizes like XXS or XXXL, these sizes would still fall short of being the right fit for most people.
No matter what size you are, our custom fit sizing is usually the best way to go. Corsets are extremely close fitting garments, so having a corset that fits perfectly to your measurements is going to look better and feel better than off-the-rack sizing. When we make a custom fit corset pattern, we are making a brand new pattern specifically for you.
It means a skilled patternmaker sits down with your measurements and makes a decision about what finished corset size would be best for someone with your measurements. Then we draw those measurements out on paper, creating a paper pattern that will eventually become the shape of your corset. We take into account your circumference measurements (bust, underbust, waist and hips), in addition to your torso length measurements, so whether you are shorter or taller, pear-shaped, apple-shaped, hourglass-shaped, or any-shaped, the corset will fit like it was made just for you — because it was!
We get asked this question a lot, and our answer is always — it depends! The best corset for you depends on what shape you’re ultimately trying to achieve. For plus size figures, each corset will look differently depending on how your body is built. Be sure to check out our guide to the different types of corsets to learn more.
When it comes to achieving perfect fit, we stand out from our competitors in several ways:
Firstly, we take more measurements than most companies, which means we have more points of measure to adjust and tailor the fit to your body.
Secondly, we have years of experience working with plus size figures. We know where to add a little bit more coverage here and support there to make you feel more comfortable and confident in your corset. We listen to your feedback, and we have been making adjustments to our fit standards over the years to improve our plus size fit even more. Many folks have told us that our plus size corsets fit better than our competitors, and we want to continue living up to that standard!
Absolutely! Some bodies have a greater amount of what we call “squish-factor.” That means that your body is, well, more squishy!
This is great for corsetry because it means you can easily create a more dramatic corseted shape without harming your body and without being uncomfortable. We can easily make your corset smaller at your bust and waist than we normally would, so you can tighten it more and create more cleavage or a smaller waist, simply by pulling your corset laces tighter.
If you’ve worn corsets before and you know that your body has a greater amount of squish-factor, send us an email and we can talk about which finished corset measurements are right for you.
All made-to-order items are handmade in Portland, Oregon. This means that your item will take some time for us to make — typically between 6-10 weeks, depending on our current order volume.
You can guarantee your processing time by selecting a Priority Processing Upgrade from the drop-down menu.
Please note that the processing time does not include shipping time. For example, an item purchased today with a 4 week processing time will be shipped 4 weeks from today.
Standard size corsets/stays are considered made-to-order unless otherwise noted. For custom fit items, this processing time begins from the time you submit your measurements. Failure to submit your measurements in a timely manner could result in your order being delayed.
Please note that the estimated delivery date is just an estimate. We only have a small team of fairies to help pattern, cut, sew, and ship your order, so sometimes orders can get delayed by a week or two. If you need your order by an exact date, we highly recommend adding Priority Processing to your order.
*Please note that the estimated delivery date will not update on this page, regardless of which Processing option you select.
